Sports career

He played for the Ottawa RCAF Flyers club, which became the basis for the Canadian team, which won the 1948 Olympic ice hockey tournament in St. Moritz. However, according to the rules of the tournament, no more than twelve players could be used in the games and the athlete remained in reserve. Nevertheless, as a member of the team, he received Olympic gold.

After the Olympics, he took part in the great Ottawa RCAF Flyers European tour, in which Canadians won 31 of 42 games. On his return to Canada, he played for the RCAF Flyers in the Whitehorse Senior Men's League in the 1948/49 season.
