Biography
Oriol de Bolos was born in the city of Olot on March 16, 1924 in the family of the botanist Antoni de Bolos . He studied at the Complutense University of Madrid . In 1945 he was elected to the Catalan Institute of Natural Sciences. Since 1953, Bolos was a professor of botany at the University of Barcelona . Since 1963, Oriol has been a member of the Barcelona Academy of Sciences and Arts, since 1964 has been a permanent member of the Montpellier Geobotanical Station International Committee ( SIGMA ), since 1965 - the Catalan Biological Society.
In 1967, Bolos was appointed director of the Barcelona Botanical Institute, where he worked until 1984.
In 1982, Bolos was awarded the Medal of Narcis Monturiol . In 1993, Oriol de Bolos was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi Prize .
Oriol de Bolos died in Barcelona on March 22, 2007 .
