Biography
Semyon Nagnibeda was born in 1905 in the village of Solonitsa (now Kozelshchyna district, Poltava region of Ukraine ). After graduating from elementary school he worked on a collective farm . In 1941, Nagnibed was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since July of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By the autumn of 1943, the Red Army soldier Semen Nagnibed was a sapper of the 269th separate sapper battalion of the 12th Army of the South-Western Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
In the fall of 1943, Nagnibed participated in forcing the Dnieper and fighting for the seizure and retention of a bridgehead on its western shore near the village of Petro-Svistunovo, Solonyansky District, Dnipropetrovsk Region, Ukrainian SSR . In those battles, Nagnibed personally destroyed two enemy tanks.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 19, 1944, Red Army soldier Semyon Nagnibed was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for "courage and heroism shown when crossing the Dnieper and keeping the bridgehead on its right bank". He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and World War 2 nd degree, a number of medals [1] .
On October 10, 1943, he died in battle [1] north of Zaporozhye while crossing the Vilna River.
A street in his native village is named after Nagnibeda [1] .
