The early years

Henny Windt was born on November 30, 1903 in Amsterdam, in the family of Anthonyus Windt and his wife Gertreid van Roeyen [2] . He was the youngest child in a family of four [2] . He had older brothers Jan, Pete, and Ton. [2] Their family lived in house number 70 on Schagerlan Street in the Watergraggsmeer area [3] .

Sports career

At the age of seventeen, Windt became a member of the DEK football club from Amsterdam. His older brother Yang also played in the team. In 1927, Henny moved to another Amsterdam club - Ajax . At that time, the “red and white” were playing in the Watergraphsmere area at the Hat Houten stadium in Middenweg .

The defender spent the first match in the championship on October 23 against the UVV club [4] . The game ended with a major victory for Ajax - 7-0 [5] [6] . In the debut season, Henny took part in four championship matches [5] . Amsterdam won their group and reached the final of the championship, but in the playoffs took second place [5] .

The following season, Windt gained more playing time by playing in twelve Netherlands Championship matches [7] . In total, over four years, Henny took part in 17 championship matches [4] . ATthe last time as part of Ajax, he entered the field on April 19, 1931 in a away match with Hermes ICE [4] .

Personal life

Windt died at the age of 78 in a nursing home. [2] He was buried in the cemetery of De Nieuve Oster [8] .
