Biography
Born in 1888 in the city of Desfina noma Fokida, in central Greece.
In 1904, at the age of sixteen, he went to Mount Athos , where he first entered the monastery of St. Nicholas, and later - the monastery of John the Baptist and for a number of years was under the spiritual guidance of the holy mountain monk Markian (Ruvalis).
In 1907, he was tonsured a monk with the name Akaki and on August 29, 1914, bishop Timothy was ordained hierodeacon , and on October 8, 1917, bishop Paisius of Nyssa was ordained hieromonk [1] . In 1920, he was tonsured a great schema .
In the mid-1920s, he became a member of the old-fashioned movement, for which in 1929 he was removed from the Holy Mountain .
In 1936, Bishop Megarides Christopher (Hadjis) was elevated to the rank of archimandrite , and in 1939, St. Nicholas Monastery was founded in Attica near the city of by his efforts.
After the death in September 1955 of Metropolitan Chlorostom Florinsky (Kavuridis) and the lack of hierarchical management, on October 10, 1957 a special Church Committee was elected, consisting of twelve archimandrites, chaired by Archimandrite Akaky (Pappas).
On December 9 (22), 1960, in Detroit, two hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Seraphim (Ivanov) and Theophilos (Ionescu), Archimandrite Akaki was ordained bishop of Talant. Consecration was performed without the permission of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops .
At the end of 1963, Bishop Akaki was elevated to the rank of Archbishop of Athens and All Hellas.
He died on Saturday December 1, 1963 in Athens.
