Biography
Mikhail Myasnikov was born on November 21, 1922 in the village of Kolpny (now - a village in the Oryol region ). He graduated from ten classes of the school. In 1939, Myasnikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . From the first day of World War II - on its fronts. Participated in the defense of the Brest Fortress , was wounded twice. After being discharged from the hospital, Myasnikov was sent to study at the Oryol Tank School , which he graduated in August 1942 . He participated in the battle for the Caucasus and battles on the Lesser Earth , was wounded [1] .
By May 1944, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Myasnikov was deputy commander of the tank battalion of the 63rd Panzer Brigade of the Primorsky Army . He distinguished himself during the assault on Sevastopol . On May 7, 1944, Myasnikov replaced the out-of-command battalion commander and at the head of it broke into Sevastopol. In those battles, Myasnikov blocked the enemy’s escape route, was wounded, but continued to fight. In all, in those battles, the Myasnikov battalion destroyed 64 artillery pieces, 9 assault guns, more than 300 enemy soldiers and officers, and captured 2,000 more [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for “exemplary performance of the command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism”, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Myasnikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 3709 [1] .
After the war, Myasnikov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1975, with the rank of colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Dnepropetrovsk . Actively engaged in social activities.
He died on July 25, 2005, was buried in the Alley of Heroes of Zaporizhzhya Cemetery in Dnepropetrovsk [1] .
Honorary Citizen of Dnepropetrovsk. He was also awarded two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
In honor of Myasnikov, a bust was installed in his hometown [1] .
