Biography
Ivan Myakotin was born in 1917 in the village of Semenovka (now the Melitopol district of the Zaporizhzhya region of Ukraine ). He graduated from high school and construction college. In October 1939, Myakotin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. In the battles he was wounded. In 1944, Myakotin graduated from political courses [1] .
By February 1945, Lieutenant Ivan Myakotin was the party organizer of the 1st battalion of the 979th rifle regiment of the 253rd rifle division of the 21st rifle corps of the 3rd Guards Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On February 28, 1945, Myakotin replaced the deceased company commander and successfully led her during an assault on an important height. Having gained a foothold at the height, the company Myakotina successfully repelled sixteen German counterattacks, holding out until the main forces arrived. In those battles, Myakotin died. He was buried in the city of Gubin, Lubusz Voivodeship of Poland [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism”, Lieutenant Ivan Myakotin was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin , Red Banner , World War 2 degree [1] .
