Biography
Viktor Mukhin was born on October 3, 1924 in the village of Bolshaya Yelnya (now Kstovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region ). After elementary school, he worked on a collective farm . In 1942 he moved to Gorky , worked as a mechanic at a telephone factory. In January 1943, Mukhin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since July of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Participated in the Battle of Kursk , was wounded [1] .
By September 1943, the Red Army guard Viktor Mukhin was a shooter of the 29th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 12th Guards Rifle Division of the 61st Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 29, 1943, Mukhin, as part of a front-line detachment, crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Glushets, Loevsky District, Gomel Region, Belorussian SSR, and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead, repelling two German counterattacks and personally destroying more than 20 enemy soldiers and officers. During the November battles for Mozyr, he was seriously wounded [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, for the “exemplary performance of the command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, the Red Army soldier Viktor Mukhin was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Gold medal Star ” under number 3533 [1] .
After discharge from the hospital, Mukhin was demobilized. He lived and worked in the village of Zhdanovsky, Kstovsky district. He died on December 14, 1983, was buried in his native village [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
