Biography
Anatoly Mukhin was born on February 8, 1914 in Serpukhov . He graduated from eight classes of the school, studied in the flying club. In August 1941, Mukhin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1943 he graduated from the Vyaznikov Military Aviation Pilot School. Since July of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
Toward the end of the Guard War, Senior Lieutenant Anatoly Mukhin commanded the link of the 177th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 14th Guards Fighter Air Division of the 3rd Guards Fighter Aviation Corps of the 5th Air Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front . By that time, he had made 230 sorties, took part in 45 air battles, shooting down 19 enemy planes in person and another 1 as part of the group [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, for “courage and heroism shown in air battles with the German invaders” of the guard, senior lieutenant Anatoly Mukhin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal [1] .
After the war, Mukhin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1954, he graduated from the Higher Flight Tactical Improvement Courses for Officers. In 1957, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve, and later received the rank of reserve colonel. He lived and worked in Riga . He died on March 1, 1979 [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Order of the Red Star (1956) with a number of medals [1] .
