Sports career
Alkmar '54
Sim Tame began his football career in his native Alkmaar , playing with his brother Henk for the AFC '34 team . In 1959, they moved to the club of the first division - Alkmar '54 . Sim played as a striker , while his older brother was a defender . A year later, his team went to Eredivisi , becoming the winner of the first division .
Thame spent the first game in the championship on October 9, 1960 against the BBB club, and in the next round in the game with Feyenoord scored his first goal for the club [2] . In the first full season in the main team of Alkmar '54, the striker spent twenty-eight matches, scoring eight goals in them [2] .
In total, over four years, Sim scored 25 goals in the championship and one in the country's cup . In 1963, he began negotiations on a new contract, requesting a salary of several thousand guilders, but in the end the club put him on a transfer [3] . On the last day of the transfer window, Thame was sold to Ajax [4] . At that time, his brother Hank played for the “red-white”.
“I was about twenty years old, I worked in Hergyugovard and traveled there by train. On the platform, someone came up to me and said that I had been sold for a hundred thousand guilders at Ajax. I didn’t even know anything about this ” [3] .
Ajax
At the age of twenty-two, Thame made his debut in the first team of Ajax. The first match in the championship for Amsterdam was held on August 25 against the club Fortuna '54 [5] . The game ended with the defeat of his team with a score of 2: 1 [6] [7] . In the debut season, Sim took part in two more matches, against Enschede and “ Go Ahead ”, but scored goals not marked [8] . He missed most of the season due to a severe ankle injury [3] . Coach Jack Rowley believed that Sim should play football while he could barely walk. ” [3]
September 20, 1964
“After poisoning in Alkmaar, I secretly visited a surgeon who wrote a letter to Ajax that I urgently needed an operation, but Rowley tore it in half. The club council found out about this and paid a visit to the surgeon. When everything became clear, it became clear that for Rowley the days at the club were numbered ” [3] .
By August 1964, Sim finally recovered from his injury and was ready for the new season. By then, coach Rowley had left the club, and another English specialist, Vick Buckingham, was appointed in his place. In the first round of the championship, Tame scored a double in the match against Go Ahead [9] . During the season, he scored seven goals in eighteen championship matches [8] . Ajax at the end of the season avoided relegation to the first division, taking 13th place; during the season, coach Buckingham left the team, and in January 1965, Rinus Michels was appointed head coach [8] .
At the end of the season, Thame asked Mikhels to put him on a transfer, although the coach wanted to keep him in the team, but Sim insisted on his own, moreover, his brother Henk also decided to leave Ajax, as he did not qualify for the first squad [3] . As a result, Sim returned with his brother to Alkmar '54 [10] , which will later be renamed to AZ'67 .
