Biography
Born December 25, 1921 in a family of railway employees at the Obluchye station [1] of the current Jewish Autonomous Region . Russian.
In 1938 he graduated from high school, went to study at a technical school in the department of locomotive drivers [1] .
In 1939, the family moved to Omsk [1] .
Candidate member of the CPSU (b) [1] since 1940.
In 1939, drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . In the fall of 1940 he was sent to the Omsk Infantry School named after M. V. Frunze [1] .
In the battles of World War II from December 1941 [1] . He fought on the Western, Central and 1st Ukrainian fronts. He was wounded three times.
Senior Lieutenant Yu.V. Tvarkovsky distinguished himself in the battles of September 23-26, 1943 in the vicinity of the Verkhlievka station of the Chernobyl district of the Kiev region . His battalion went 10 km deep into the enemy’s defenses and set up an ambush, destroying the Nazis up to the battalion. Then he crossed the Dnieper south of the village of Komarin in the Bragin district of the Gomel region and seized the bridgehead.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for the courage and bravery shown during the crossing of the Dnieper, the guard, Senior Lieutenant Yuri Vladimirovich Tvarkovsky was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Golden Star medal .
He died on December 7, 1943 in a battle near the village of Annopol, Zhytomyr region , where he was buried. A memorial to the Heroes of the Soviet Union who died in the Zhytomyr region is installed at the Smolyansk military cemetery [2] in the city of Zhytomyr .
