Initial Biography
Born on November 5, 1910 in the village of Kuren (now in the Bakhmach district of the Chernihiv region).
Military Service
Pre-war time
In October 1930, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent by the Red Army to the 129th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division ( Ukrainian Military District ). In 1931 he graduated from the school of junior commanding officers, and in 1932 joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) .
After graduating from the Sevastopol School of Anti-aircraft Artillery in September 1934, he served in the 85th Artillery Regiment ( Moscow Military District ) as platoon commander and battery commander.
Since December 1936, Antonenko took part in the Civil War in Spain , and after returning in October 1937 he again commanded a battery in the 85th artillery regiment.
In December 1937 he was sent to study at the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Artillery Academy , after which in May 1941 he was appointed commander of the 383rd separate anti-aircraft artillery battalion of the air defense as part of the Odessa Military District .
World War II
With the outbreak of war, the division under the command of Antonenko conducted combat operations as part of the 9th Army of the Southern Front .
In March 1942 he was appointed to the post of commander of the 1079th anti-aircraft artillery regiment as part of the Stalingrad air defense corps district , in September of that year to the post of commander of the Saratov-Balashovsky air defense divisions , which carried out defense from the air of Saratov , bridges and ferries across the Volga , army warehouses, supply bases in the areas of Saratov, Balashov , Rtishchevo and Kamyshin , railway junctions, stations and lines within the district. From June 12 to June 27, 1943, the corps under the command of Antonenko repelled an intense 9 raids of enemy bomber aircraft on military-industrial facilities of Saratov.
In April 1944, the air defense division area under the command of Antonenko was transformed into the 5th Air Defense Corps with headquarters in Saratov. In July of the same year, the corps was relocated to the Lublin area for air defense of the Oder crossings, as well as communications, warehouses and bases of operating fronts. In August, the corps was included in the Northern Air Defense Front , and in January 1945 - in the Western Air Defense Front , after which it covered objects in the strip of the 1st Belorussian Front and took part in the Warsaw-Poznan , East Pomeranian and Berlin offensive operations . During the fighting, Colonel Mikhail Vasilievich Antonenko showed himself to be a courageous and brave commander, for which he was awarded the military rank of “ Major General of Artillery ”, and was also awarded the Order of Kutuzov, 2nd class.
Post-War Career
After the war ended in June 1946, Antonenko was appointed commander of the 52nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division .
In January 1947 he was sent to study at the Higher Military Academy named after K. E. Voroshilov , after which in February 1949 he was appointed to the post of deputy chief of the air defense department of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces , but in May of that year he was relieved of posts and seconded to the General Staff Directorate of the USSR Armed Forces and in June of that year was appointed to the post of commander of the Trans-Baikal Air Defense District .
In December 1953 he was appointed to the post of Deputy Inspector General, in June 1954 - to the post of Inspector General of Anti-aircraft Artillery of the Special Forces of the Air Defense Inspectorate of the country, in March 1955 - to the post of Inspector General of the Inspection of Anti-aircraft Artillery, and in October 1958 - to the post of inspector general of anti-aircraft artillery and anti-aircraft forces of the Air Defense Inspectorate of the Group of Inspectors General of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR .
Artillery Lieutenant General Mikhail Vasilievich Antonenko in November 1971 went into reserve. He died on August 29, 1983 in Moscow .
