Biography
Born in 1955 in the city of Sitie, on the island of Crete. Received primary education in his hometown.
In 1973-1975 he served as a bank clerk. He entered the Theological School of the University of Athens , which he graduated in 1978.
From 1974 to 1977 he served as a catechist in the Attic Metropolis, and from 1977 to 1979 - as part of the Pantocrator youth Christian association.
In 1978, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Theology ( Honoris causa ) at the Theological Department of the University of Athens .
June 2, 1979 took monastic tonsure with the name Joseph.
On June 3, 1979, he was ordained deacon . Passed his ministry in the city of Lefkada .
On December 27, 1981, he was ordained a presbyter and was appointed protosinkella to the city of Ierapetra .
From 1982 to 1986 he served as a preacher and protosingel of the Hierapitnes Metropolis.
In 1987 he entered the clergy of the Australian Archbishopric and was appointed rector of the Greek parish in the city of Sydney .
From 1987 to 1989, he taught at the Sydney theological school of the Apostle Andrew, while being the rector of the St. Nicholas parish in Merrickville and holding various responsible posts in the Australian Archbishopric .
On December 3, 1989, he was consecrated bishop of Arianzos, vicar of the Australian Archbishopric.
In 2002, for his dissertation on the literary activity of Fotis Kontoglu, he received a Ph.D. from the University of Flinder in Adelaide.
July 21, 2003 was elected Metropolitan of New Zealand .
On August 31, 2005, he retired and was sent to serve in Piraeus .
On June 24, 2008 he was elected Metropolitan of Prokonnis .
