Biography
In 1890, he graduated from Bates College , where he studied history and classical philology, receiving a bachelor's degree, and began teaching Latin and history at St. Paul's School in New York . In 1892, however, he entered Harvard University to study biology; in 1893 he received a bachelor of arts there, in 1894 a master of arts, and in 1896 - a Ph.D. in biology.
From 1896 to 1897 he was engaged in scientific work in Munich , the German Empire . Returning to his homeland, he became a professor of biology at Knox College in Galesburg , Illinois , where he worked for 13 years, after which he became a professor of zoology at Tufts College , where he worked until June 1939, when he retired.
Scientific research of the Nile was devoted to general issues of anatomy and systematics of vertebrates. The most famous works: The Morphology Of The Eye Muscle Nerves (1909) and Neuromeres and metameres (1919).
