Kumpentum ( French: Koumpentoum ) is a city and a commune in the central part of Senegal , in the territory of the Tambacunda region. Administrative center of the department of the same name .

Geographical position
The city is located in the west of the region, near the reserve of the same name, at a distance of about 300 kilometers east-southeast (ESE) from the country's capital Dakar . The absolute height is 23 meters above sea level [1] .
Population
According to estimates by the National Agency for Statistics and Demography of Senegal ( Agence nationale de la statistique et de la démographie ), the population of Kumpentum in 2009 was 8488 people, of which men accounted for 50%, women, respectively, also 50% [2] .
Transport
The city has a railway station. The nearest airport is located in the city of Tambacunda [1] .
