Vasily Zakharov - a skilled woodcarver, a Kostroma tradesman , famous for his works in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the 19th century .
They were executed, including the candelabra and other decorations for the funeral hearse of Emperor Alexander I , the pulpit in the Transfiguration Cathedral and the frame for the portraits in the Field Marshals' Hall of the Winter Palace .
The works of Vasily Ivanovich Zakharov were recognized by the Imperial Academy of Arts , which granted him the title of a free artist . At the manufactory exhibition in 1839, he received a large silver medal for an β auditory organ cut out of wood under the direction of Dr. Buyalsky from wood β, that is, a folding ear model. This model, according to P. N. Stolpyansky , β delighted visitors to the exhibition, who found it to be a model of carving β [1] .
