Biography
Gallyam Murzakhanov was born on March 27, 1925 in the village of Tatar Naratly (now the Zelenodolsky district of Tatarstan ). After graduating from four classes of the school, he worked as a tractor driver. In 1943, Murzakhanov was called up for service in the USSR Navy . Since November of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, there was a combat drill of the 66th separate detachment of smoke masking and degassing of the Dnieper military flotilla . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Byelorussian SSR [1] .
In June-July 1944, Murzakhanov landed on enemy territory five times and participated in fierce battles with the enemy. During the battles for the city of Pinsk, he personally destroyed 5 firing points and up to 10 enemy soldiers and officers, having repelled several counterattacks, he himself was seriously wounded [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 7, 1945, for “courage and heroism shown in landing operations during the liberation of Belarus,” Red Navy sailor Gallyam Murzakhanov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6316 [1] .
After the war, Murzakhanov was demobilized. He returned to his native village, later he lived and worked in Kazan . He died on May 25, 1990, was buried in the Tatar Naratli [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
