Biography
Mikhail Muzykin was born on January 27, 1905 in the village of Matveevka (now the Khabarovsk district of the Khabarovsk Territory ). From the age of fifteen he worked in Nikolaevsk (now - Nikolaevsk-on-Amur ). In 1924 - 1929 he served in the OGPU of the USSR, participated in battles with gangs in the Far East, and was wounded. Demobilized, he graduated from the Kharkov Planning Institute, was in economic positions. In November 1938 he joined the legal profession. Before the war, he lived in Sochi , worked as a lawyer in the Sochi city legal consultation [1] .
At the beginning of World War II, he created and led a militia battalion in Sochi. In November 1941 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942, Muzykin graduated from the Shot courses, in 1944, advanced training courses for command personnel. In battles, four times was wounded and once shell-shocked [1] .
By January 1945, Colonel Mikhail Muzykin commanded the 185th Rifle Division of the 77th Rifle Corps of the 47th Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the Vistula-Oder operation . Muzykin’s division broke through the German defense north of Warsaw , crossed the Vistula River and liberated the city of Sochaczew on the 17th of January 1945, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 6, 1945, for “courage and heroism in the fight against Nazi invaders,” Colonel Mikhail Muzykin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war, Muzykin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. From February 1949 to November 1951 he served as head of the combat training department of the 11th Guards Army in the Baltic Military District . In January 1963, with the rank of lieutenant general, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow . He died on June 22, 1992, was buried at the Domodedovo cemetery in Moscow [1] .
Honorary Citizen of Zhytomyr . He was also awarded four orders of the Red Banner , the Order of Suvorov of the 2nd degree, two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star , a number of medals and foreign awards [1] .
