Biography
Ivan Muzalyov was born on December 15, 1920 in the village of Zarechye (now - the Novosilsky district of the Oryol region ). After finishing ten grades of the school, he studied at an agricultural school. In 1939, Muzalev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. In the battles of the initial period of the war he was wounded and taken prisoner [1] .
Muzalyov was sent by the Germans to prisoner of war camps in the city of Shepetovka , from where after a while he managed to escape. In January 1943, he joined the partisan detachment named after F.M. Mikhailov, where he soon became a platoon commander. Since September 1943, Muzalev commanded the Shepetovsky partisan detachment. His platoon, and then the detachment, repeatedly distinguished itself in battles with the invaders. In total, the guerrillas of Muzalev derailed 49 railway trains, destroying or capturing a large number of military equipment and weapons. During one of the battles, Muzalyov was seriously wounded and was sent to the rear [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 2, 1945, Ivan Muzalyov was awarded with great damage to manpower and equipment, as a result of which the enemy suffered great damage in manpower and equipment, as well as for special merits in the development of the partisan movement in Podolia high rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 7453 [1] .
After the war, Muzalev continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1950, with the rank of lieutenant, he was sacked. He graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic Institute. He lived and worked in Ulyanovsk . He died on March 7, 1984 [1] .
Honorary citizen of Shepetivka. He was also awarded the orders of Bogdan Khmelnytsky II degree, World War I degree, the Red Banner of Labor , "Badge of Honor" , a number of medals [1] .
