History
As a military unit formed in the Belarusian Special Military District on June 4, 1941.
The office of the commandant of the fortified area under the name of the Office of the Pripyat Air Defense Sector has existed since 1930.
The construction of the Mozyr fortified area as a fortification began in 1930 and ended in 1938. The district’s defense line was 128 kilometers from Kopatkevich to Lelchits . The northern sector of the region occupied the strip from Kopatkevichi to Pripyat along the Ptich River , the southern sector from Pripyat to Lelchits along the Ubort River. The depth of defense of the region in the main areas reached 5-6 kilometers. In total, the district included 181 long-term defensive structures, divided into four defense sections north of Pripyat and nine south. The district had 176 machine gun points for 433 machine guns and two artillery half-guns for 2 76-mm guns. [1] [2] [3]
In 1936, the district garrison included the 18th separate machine gun battalion, the 4th separate machine gun company, the 7th artillery brigade, the 153rd separate communications company and the 93rd separate combat engineer battalion.
By the beginning of the war, the district garrison consisted of three machine-gun battalions, one artillery regiment, a combat engineer company, and a communications company. The district had four 76.2 mm divisional cannons of 1902 g with 720 rounds, 47 machine guns of DP , 434 machine guns of "Maxim" , 1,588 rifles with 3,794,000 rounds of them, 60 revolvers "Nagan" and TT pistols with 3,678 rounds to them, 57 flare guns and 5 checkers . The district had at its disposal 5 GAZ-AA trucks, 1 pickup truck, 101 carts, 34 gigs, 13 field kitchens, 32 6-PK radios, 24 4x T4 periscopes and 57 10x PDN-2 periscopes. By mobilization, the district was to receive 8 ChTZ-S-60 tractors, 9 GAZ-A vehicles and another 61 GAZ-AA trucks.
In the army from June 22, 1941 to December 27, 1941.
Actually, there were no large-scale hostilities in the zone of the region; the first enemy troops appeared only on July 29, 1941 (reconnaissance battalion). The fortifications of the region were abandoned only on August 19, 1941 in connection with the capture of Gomel . Headquarters Directive No. 001092 of August 19, 1941 ordered the evacuation of the armament of the district, the destruction of the district’s facilities and the withdrawal of all troops (including the departed remnants of two divisions) beyond the Dnieper [4] .
The area was evacuated, went to the location of the 21st Army and entered the disposal of the commander in chief of the western direction. The further fate of the military unit is unknown.
The area as a military unit was disbanded on December 27, 1941 (but has not been included in the Red Army since September 1, 1941).
