Biography

Konstantin Morozov was born in 1919 in the village of Mikhailovka (now - in the Prelestnensky rural settlement of Prokhorovsky district of the Belgorod region ). After finishing six grades of school, he first worked on a collective farm , then at a mine. In 1940, Morozov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941 he graduated from the infantry school; since June of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 26, 1943, Morozov’s battalion was among the first to cross the Dnieper in the Kanev region of the Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore, repelling eight German counterattacks. In those battles, Morozov personally destroyed 4 enemy tanks, he was injured, but continued to fight [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 25, 1943, for “courage and heroism shown in crossing the Dnieper and keeping the bridgehead on its right bank,” Captain Konstantin Morozov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union .
