History
The organization worked since the 1960s, since 1982 it was recreated as the Moscow station of young naturalists (MosGorSYUN). In 2008 it was renamed the Moscow Children's Ecological and Biological Center.
The institution was founded as the Moscow city station for young naturalists in the northern district of Moscow, on Yunnatov Street , where its second building, which later held training classes, was later located, a greenhouse, a living corner and a training experimental site were located.
The director (from the moment of foundation in 1982 to 2012) and many years of ideological inspirer of the Moscow city station of young naturalists and its successor IDEBTS was Valery Alekseevich Maslov, an honorary education worker in the city of Moscow.
Since 2012, Dmitry Vladimirovich Morgun, candidate of biological and philosophical sciences, twice a Moscow Grant winner in the field of education , twice a laureate of the Moscow Government Prize in the field of environmental protection, became the director of the IDBEC. D.V. Morgun represents the system of Moscow environmental education at the Public Environmental Council of the city of Moscow.
In different years, the contribution to the development of the educational and methodical work of the IDEBC was made by famous biologists and teachers: I. G. Lebedev, P. E. Morozov, E. A. Dunaev, A. V. Pchelkin, A. N. Huseynov, D V. Morgun, M. V. Chertoprud, A. S. Beer, G. I. Frolova and many others.

Work Objectives
The main objectives of the work were:
- increasing enrollment of students in additional natural science programs;
- the formation of the ecological culture of children and youth;
- vocational guidance of students in the field of natural sciences.
Activities
MDEBC provided:
- integration of the system of additional education , research organizations and organizations higher professional education in the field of ecology , biology , geology and other natural sciences, being a platform for interaction between scientific personnel and schoolchildren of the city; classes were held under contracts at the bases of research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Moscow State University , Moscow City Pedagogical University and other organizations of higher professional education;
- coordination of environmental and natural science additional education in the network of supporting educational organizations in the city districts - both in the system of mass events and in the content of education;
- implementation of interdepartmental interaction between the education system and the nature conservation system of the city of Moscow (organizations subordinate to the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of the city of Moscow );
- professional orientation of high school students in the framework of specialized tutorial programs, preparation for environmental and biological olympiads , in-depth studies of natural sciences and expeditions;
- The educational programs of the IDEBC actually compensated for the lack of continuous environmental education in the school, as they were designed to form a natural-science culture from elementary to high school. The experience of additional education at the IDEBC was widely used in 2006-2008 in the development of a regional environmental component in Moscow high school, and now in the development of an ecology course in accordance with the new school standard (authors G. A. Yagodin, M.V. Argunova, T.A. Plyusnina, D.V. Morgun). Based on the results of this work, in 2008 a textbook on ecology was published, used in Moscow schools in grades 10-11.
Coordination of regional stages of all-Russian events
Since 2007, the IDEB has been the coordinator of the regional stages of all-Russian events for additional education in the environmental and biological profile in Moscow. So, the Center held regional stages of the All-Russian Scientific Ecological and Biological Olympiad for students in institutions of additional education, the All-Russian Competition for Young Environmental Researchers. IDEBC was a regional branch of the Green Planet All-Russian Children's Ecological Movement (chairman of the department is D. V. Morgun).
Learning Process
3 000 children from 6 to 18 years of age studied at the IDEBC under programs of 5 directions, the priority of which were natural science and environmental-biological. There was a steady quantitative increase in the contingent and an increase in the motivation of students to solve socially significant environmental problems, an increase in the number of participants in mass events of the IDEC from 15,000 to 40,000 per year. Students annually showed high results at competitive events: the environmental forum, the All-Russian Olympiad in ecology, readings named after V.I. Vernadsky , the federal stages of all-Russian events for additional education, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation ; All-Russian contests of the cycle “Youth. The science. Culture ”and many others.
About 10 educational research and landscape-familiarization ecological, biological, geological or local history expeditions in different regions of Russia and the CIS (from the tundra of the Murmansk region to Southern Primorye , the Astrakhan deserts and subtropics of Crimea ) were organized annually by the IDEBC. The expeditions of the IDBEC covered almost the entire territory of Russia from the Russian North to the Caucasus and from the coast of the Baltic Sea to the Far East . In addition, expeditions continued on the territory of the former republics of the USSR - the Baltic states , Ukraine , Moldova . Thus, the expeditions covered a wide range of natural areas , and gave students the knowledge about different types of landscapes .
Another important form of educational work of the IDEB was the organization of thematic lectures and excursions for schoolchildren and preschoolers at the Center for collection materials, demonstration objects and museum displays. A unique Museum of Natural History was created - a collection of paleontological materials, the Museum of Nature. Up to 400 visitors passed through museum displays every month, which amounted to about 4,000 people a year.
Teachers
The educational process was conducted by about 100 teachers, most of whom are representatives of the scientific environment, have a degree, academic ranks. At the same time, about half of the team was under 40 years old.
Academician Gennady Alekseevich Yagodin was the supervisor of the IDBEC, under whose leadership the city of experimental and innovative sites have been working in the IDEB since 2006.
Massive urban environmental events
Every year, the IDEB organized about 30 mass urban environmental events (city competitions, competitions for students in the system of additional education, actions and projects), and also coordinated the interagency Unified Calendar of Environmental Events for Schoolchildren. Since 1984, the IDEB has held the following city events: the Moscow Ecological Forum of Students, the field “Green Olympiad” of young ecologists and naturalists, together with Moscow State University - an open Olympiad of schoolchildren in geology; The contest of socially significant projects on resource conservation, the quest for paleontology , and international environmental holidays were popular.
Scientific and methodical editions
IDEBTS is known for broadcasting the experience of additional education in scientific and methodological publications (over 70 monographs, manuals, methodological developments). From the 2003-2004 school year, the IDEB became the leading methodological center in the field of additional environmental education, organizing urban specialized methodological associations.
An important factor in the development of the system of additional environmental education was the emergence and functioning of such a form of pedagogical and methodological interaction as the city methodological association of ecologists and biologists, which began its work in the 2003-2004 academic year.
As part of the editorial and publishing activities, the IDEB methodologists edited the programs, educational and methodological materials prepared for publication, experimental results, articles, prospectuses, advertising materials, evaluated the need for publication in accordance with scientific, methodological and social goals. Over the past 20 years, about 70 teaching aids have been published at the IDEBC. In recent years, some determinants, reference books, as well as special scientific and methodological collections (for example, the annual "Modern Methodological Aspects of Environmental Education") have been of particular interest.
Rewards
For effective organizational and methodological work aimed at improving the quality of science education, the IDEBC was awarded the Grant of the Mayor of Moscow in 2013, with grants and prizes from the Moscow Government in 2001 and 2009.
Material base
The material base of the IDEBC included specialized laboratories (chemical, digital biological), natural science educational and museum complexes, a greenhouse, an equestrian complex and an experimental living area, equipped and didactically provided training rooms for the natural science profile, educational and experimental sites with an ecological trail. 2 buildings (the main one is in the South-Western administrative district of Moscow, a separate division is in the Northern administrative district ).
