Physical Properties
Calcium selenate forms colorless crystals of several modifications [1] :
- rhombic syngony , space group P mca , cell parameters a = 0.7192 nm, b = 1.4404 nm, c = 0.6398 nm, Z = 8.
- monoclinic syngony , space group P 2 1 / n , cell parameters a = 0.6860 nm, b = 0.7086 nm, c = 0.6692 nm, β = 104.21 °, Z = 4.
- tetragonal syngony , space group I 4 1 / a , cell parameters a = 0.5054 nm, c = 1.1678 nm, Z = 4.
It is soluble in water.
It forms crystalline hydrates of the composition CaSeO 4 • n H 2 O, where n = 1/2, 5/8 and 2.
