Ship Description
One of the four schooners of the "Whirlwind" type. The length of the schooner was 24.4 meters , the width was 6.7 meters , and the draft was 2.7 meters . The armament of the vessel consisted of 14 guns, and the crew of 50 people [1] [2] .
Service History
Schooner "Lightning" was laid at the shipyard in Lodeynoye Pole on May 19, 1829, and after launching on September 4, 1829, it became part of the Baltic Fleet. Construction was carried out by the ship foreman N. I. Fedorov [1] [2] .
In the autumn of the same year, she moved from Lodeynoye Field to St. Petersburg . From 1830 to 1834 annually went on practical voyages to the Gulf of Finland . In 1835, she held a post in Reval . In 1836, she took part in hydrographic work in Finnish skerries as part of the detachment [1] .
The schooner was dismantled in Kronstadt in 1844 [2] .
