Vasily Dmitrievich Batyushkov (1868-1929) - Russian agronomist. The son of D. N. Batyushkov , the great-nephew of the poet K. N. Batyushkov .

Biography
In 1890 he graduated from the Natural Department of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of St. Petersburg University ; his dissertation "Legume Plant Culture" was awarded a gold medal.
Working in the Ministry of Agriculture, V. D. Batyushkov collected material that he used in his work, “Code of Statistical Materials Relating to the Rural Population of European Russia” (1894); the book was deemed unreliable and withdrawn from circulation.
From March 26, 1908 to July 15, 1917 he was director of the Imperial Agricultural Museum in St. Petersburg. In 1912-1913, he organized competitions for agricultural machinery.

After 1917 he was a member of the Electroglow commission, the Tractor Committee , and the agricultural section of the State Planning Commission ; He developed projects for the tractorization and electrification of the country's agriculture, collaborated in the preparation of the GOELRO plan, providing valuable materials for planning the electrification of agriculture. On his initiative, the All-Russian contest of designers of electric arable tools took place.
In 1921-1922, V. D. Batyushkov initiated the creation of faculties of industrial agriculture at higher technical educational institutions and was the first to begin a course on the industrialization of agriculture at the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute.
