Biography
Vasily Mordin was born on April 18, 1918 in the village of Khoteyevo (now - Brasovsky district of the Bryansk region ). He graduated from seven classes of the school, studied at the agricultural technical school. In 1936, Mordin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He graduated from the Yeisk Naval Aviation School of Pilots. Since 1941 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By November 1942, Captain Vasily Mordin was a pilot in the 40th Air Regiment of the 63rd Bomber Air Force Battalion of the Black Sea Fleet . By that time, he had made 202 sorties, destroying a large number of enemy military equipment [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 24, 1943, for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism" captain Vasily Mordin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 1047 [1] .
After the war, Mordin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. He died tragically in a plane crash on July 8, 1949, at the Yagodnik military airdrome near the village of Pervomaisky (now the city of Novodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region ). He was buried in Sevastopol in the cemetery of the village of Dergachi [1] .
He was also awarded two Orders of the Red Banner , the Order of Alexander Nevsky , a number of medals and a foreign order [1] .
