Initial Biography
Iosif Fedoseevich Korolenko was born on December 29, 1902 in the village of Berezovka, now Kagarlyksky district, Kiev region of Ukraine.
Military Service
Interwar
In September 1921 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to the Krasnodar artillery courses, after which in October 1923 he was appointed to the position of platoon commander of the artillery division of the 14th Rifle Division ( Moscow Military District ), and in March 1925 - to the post of chief of intelligence of the artillery regiment. In the same year he joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) .
After completing advanced training courses for command personnel of anti-aircraft artillery in Sevastopol in May 1926 he was appointed to the post of intelligence chief of the 2nd anti-aircraft artillery regiment ( Ukrainian Military District ), in October 1927 - to the position of platoon commander and course commander of the Military School of Anti-aircraft artillery in Sevastopol , and in January 1931 - to the post of commander of the training battery of the 115th artillery regiment ( Leningrad Military District ).
After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Artillery Academy in May 1936 he was appointed to the post of commander of a separate air defense division ( Trans-Baikal Military District ), in May 1938 - to the post of head of the 2nd Division of the 1st Division of the Office of the Chief of Artillery, and in October - to the post of head of the air defense department of the staff of the Trans-Baikal Military District.
In June 1940, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Fedoseevich Korolenko was appointed assistant commander of the Trans-Baikal Military District for air defense, and in June 1941 - to the post of commander of the Trans-Baikal air defense zone .
World War II
With the outbreak of war, Korolenko was in his former position. The formations and units of the Trans-Baikal air defense zone covered troops, military and industrial facilities in the territory of the okrug from enemy attacks from the air.
In May 1944 he was appointed to the post of commander of the 1st Air Defense Corps , after which he led the provision of cover for the Murmansk port and the Kirov Railway .
Post-War Career
After the war, Korolenko was appointed to the post of commander of the 100th Air Defense Division , in June 1946 - to the post of chief of staff - deputy commander of troops of the Far Eastern Air Defense District , in July - to the post of deputy commander of anti-aircraft artillery for combat training, in October - to the post chief of staff of anti-aircraft artillery, in June 1950 - to the post of head of the Directorate of combat training of anti-aircraft artillery of the Air Defense Forces of the country, and in August 1953 - to the post of chief of the Kiev Higher Engineering Radio air defense technical school .
Major General of Artillery Joseph Fedoseevich Korolenko in March 1957 left the reserve. He died on September 21, 1978 in Kiev .
