Plega (lat.) - a genus of carnivorous insects from the family of mantispeas of the order of the retina . About 15 species. New World: North, Central and South America. They are found from the USA and further south to Bolivia and Brazil. It differs from the related genera by the femoral subbasal spine, the basal protarsus tarzomer, having a lanceolate protrusion and almost equal length and height of pronotum . Wing with an extended pterostigmal spot. The genus was first isolated in 1927 by the Spanish entomologist L. Navas ( Longinos Navás , 1858-1938). Adults are associated with beetles (from the family Scarabaeidae ), butterflies ( Noctuidae ), dipterans ( Asilidae ), hymenoptera ( Anthophoridae , Megachilidae , Sphecidae , Eumeninae ). The genus is included in the subfamily Symphrasinae [1] [2] [3] .
