Career
The first major international start for Mary was the 1989 World Cup in Austrian Fajstritsa, where she, along with her sister Anna Veronika, defended the colors of her team. In the individual race, Maria finished 43rd, in the sprint - 41st. In 1993, she started again at the World Cup : in the individual race she took 74th place.
In 1992, women's biathlon competitions were first included in the program of the Winter Olympic Games. Argentina's national team was represented by Maria Hiro and Fabiana Lovese . In the individual race, Maria, having made 6 misses, finished 63rd, and in the sprint, without making a single mistake on the firing lines, she took 36th place - the best for the Argentine biathlon in its history.
At the opening ceremony of the 1994 Winter Olympics, she carried the flag of her country. In Lillehammer, she did not perform so well: in the sprint she became 54th, and in the individual race - 66th.
