Biography

He was born on April 1, 1928 in the Kytanakh assault of the Churapchinsky ulus of the Yakut ASSR in a peasant family. In 1948 he graduated from the Churapchinsky Pedagogical College, continued his studies at the History Department of the Yakutsk Pedagogical Institute.

In 1952, in the 4th year of study, Vasily Semenovich was innocently repressed on a false political charge of nationalism ("in the case of Professor G. P. Basharin "). Completely rehabilitated in 1954. He completed his studies only in 1955.

He worked as the head of the extra-curricular office of the Yakutsk Institute for Advanced Studies of Teachers, as a teacher, head teacher and director in the schools of Namsky and Churapchinsky uluses. Since 1977, he worked in the magazine Cholbon as the head of the prose department, and since 1992, as the chief editor.

V. S. Yakovlev - member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1979, candidate of pedagogical sciences, academician of the Academy of Spirituality of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Creativity

In 1976, the rural teacher V. S. Yakovlev, under the pseudonym Dalan, published his first work on the pages of the republican magazine Hotugu Sulus, the novel Dykti Saas ( Brave Spring ). The first story, written on the materials of twenty years of pedagogical work, about graduates of a rural school, received positive feedback from readers and literary critics. In 1978, the story was published by the Yakut book publishing house.

The writer’s work reflected many facts and events from the history of his native people: the tragedy of the Churapchins fellow countrymen during the war, pictures of student life in post-war Yakutia, repressions that tragically decided the fate of people in the 50s.

Writer-teacher V. S. Yakovlev - Dalan wrote for children the books “Teppei Bocchumurar” ( Teppei grows up , 1984), “Legends of the White North” (1985), “Karien Yiyya” (1988), “White Cranes of the North”, and others . He was also the compiler of the anthology "Yakut Literature" for the X class.
