Steve Omishl (born November 16, 1978 , North Bay, Ontario , Canada ) is a Canadian freestyle artist who participated in the 2002 , 2006 and 2010 Olympic Games. World champion in acrobatics in 2005 , silver medalist in 2009 , bronze - in 2003 and 2007 . Four times he won the acrobatics world cup , 40 times became the winner of the world cup stages.

Biography

Steve Omischl grew up five minutes from the ski slope. He considers freestyle acrobatics a fairly safe sport. Six months before the 2006 Olympics, I got a foot injury. In addition to freestyle, she is fond of road and mountain biking , golf , hockey , surfing and fishing. The sports idol is Jean Luc Brassard [1] .

Steve Omišl is the first athlete to perform a quadruple twisting triple back flip with two twists on the last flip with four turns and two turns on the last flip. The jump obeyed the athlete in the 2005/2006 season [1] .

Sports career

The debut at the stages of the World Cup took place in 1999 . In the first season, Steve Omischl won two second places, in Whistler (Canada) and Piancavallo ( Italy ) and finished in fourth place in the overall World Cup. The athlete repeated his achievement the next season , winning gold during the season in Himos ( Finland ) and two podiums at other stages. In the 2001/2002 season, Omišl became the 8th, only once climbing the podium - the third place in Lake Placid ( USA ). In the 2003/2004 season, Steve Omischl won the overall World Cup standings, which was facilitated by 6 first and 3 second places during the season. Steve Omischl became the champion of Canada in 2001, 2002, 2006. He participated in 5 world championships. At the 2001 World Championships, he became 7th, at subsequent world championships he finished in prizes, becoming third in 2003, first in 2005, third in 2007 and second in 2009. At the Olympic Games, Steve Omischl made his debut in 2002 , where he became 22nd in acrobatics, at the next Olympiad, the athlete became 20th, and at the home olympiad he won 8th place [1] .
