The Lithuanian Navy is one of the three branches of the armed forces of the Republic of Lithuania that existed from 1935 to 1940 .

History
The Navy of the Republic of Lithuania as a kind of force was formed on August 1, 1935 [2] , when the only Lithuanian warship Prezidentas Smetona in (from lit. - “ President of Smeaton ”) (former German minesweeper “M-59”) was transferred from the Border Police to the Ministry of the Territory of Lithuania. This ship remained the only Lithuanian warship.
In 1939, Germany , under the threat of the use of force , returned to its territory Klaipeda Territory . In 1940, the Republic of Lithuania was incorporated into the USSR .
On June 15 (according to other sources) on June 22, 1940, Pryzidyantas Smyatona was renamed Pirmunas ( lit. - “excellent student”), then it was included in the NKVD maritime border guard under the name Coral.
On June 22, 1941, Prizidyantas Smyatona became operational subordinate of the Baltic Fleet of the USSR Navy . This ship was killed on January 11, 1945 off the island of Aegna (there are versions of a mine explosion or torpedoing by a German submarine U-745 in ) [3] .
