Biography
Ogorodov Gennady Vasilyevich was born on December 1, 1907 in the Nikolaev settlement of the Astrakhan province. In 1920, the Ogorodov family moved to Ufa.
In 1930, Gennady Vasilievich graduated from the Saratov Art and Industrial College (teacher P.S. Utkin). At the end of the college, he taught there until 1932. In 1938 he graduated from the Bashkir Theater and Art College.
Since 1933 he worked in the Bashkir Central Regional Museum, since 1935 - in the Bashkir Art Fund, in 1936-1938 - in the Bashkir State Art Museum .
Ogorodov Gennady Vasilievich was the organizer of the Ufa branch of the Youth Association (1926), the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia and the Ufa City Union of Soviet Artists (1937).
Member of World War II. From 1941 to 1946 - platoon commander.
In 1949-1979, he led the folk art studio of DK im. M.I. Kalinin.
The artist’s works are in the BGHM collection in Ufa, in the Ufa art gallery, in the Nizhnevartovsk art gallery, in private collections in Russia and abroad.

The students of G. Ogorodov were the artists V.E. Meos, V.N. Pegoe, P. Bagin, T. Bulavina , Yu.M. Raksha, G. Sysolyatin, A. Shestak (Moscow), N. Polyakova (S.- Petersburg), N. Selikov (Novgorod).

Ogorodov Gennady Vasilievich - participant of the exhibitions: “Artists of Bashkiria for 20 years” (1939), an exhibition of works by artists of Bashkiria (1946, 1949, 1953) in Ufa; works of artists of the periphery (1940), "Young Artists of the RSFSR" (1941) in Moscow; works of artists of six autonomous republics in Kazan (1947) and others.
