Biography
He studied in Berlin with Friedrich Kiel , in Paris with Hubert Leonard , in Munich with Joseph Reinberger . From 1888 he directed the choir in Heidelberg , in 1890 - 1892 . taught at the Cologne Conservatory , then worked in Leipzig, Berlin, Kufstein . He wrote piano and violin concerts, a number of chamber compositions, works for the male choir. However, he is best known as the author of countless piano arrangements, including all the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven , the Johannes Brahms symphonies and quartets, the symphonic poems of Richard Strauss , etc.
