Company History

On July 24, 1975, in Milan, in an atelier at Corso Venezia, Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, together with Sergio Galleoti, registered the company Giorgio Armani spa with a capital of about 2,500,000 pounds. Expanding gradually, by the end of the 20th century, the company became one of the largest in the fashion industry. A few months later, the first prêt-à-porter collection (spring / summer 1976) comes out, which is on display at the Plaza Hotel in Milan. In 1978, a license agreement was signed with Textile Financial Group, thanks to which the company expanded and opened a new office, equipped with a press room and several exhibition halls. The following year, the company expanded abroad, where the designer founded the Giorgio Armani Corporation . In the late seventies, the fashion house was one of the most famous fashion companies in the world.

Eighties

Armani became one of the first in the world of haute couture who began to segment his brand [2] - men's and women's clothing and shoes, accessories, watches, haberdashery, jewelry and household goods are produced under the brands Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Armani USA, Jeans, Armani Junior, Armani Casa and others. Perfumes are produced under an agreement with the L'Oreal concern.

In 1979, the Armani Collezioni finished clothing line appeared . In 1981, the company opened the first Emporio Armani store in Milan, targeting a younger and more active clientele, and then, in 1982 , the first Giorgio Armani boutique opened in Milan again. Emporio Armani Underwear and Emporio Armani Swimmwear were launched the same year. In 1985, Sergio Galeotti died, and Armani was left alone in the management of the fashion house [3] .

The second half of the decade brings new opportunities for cooperation and expansion of the company: in 1987, thanks to a joint venture with Itochu Corporation and Seibu Department Store , the Japanese division Giorgio Armani Japan appeared.

In 1987, a line of Armani Occhiali ophthalmic frames and sunglasses was launched.

In 1994, the company began to produce clothing for skiing. In 1996, a collection of winter sports clothing ( Armani Neve ), a golf collection and the Armani Classico line appeared. In 2000, the Armani Casa product line was launched.

The nieces of Armani Sylvanas and Robert, who are considered the main heirs of the fashion designer, are responsible for the company's advertising policy [2] .
