Vadim Nikolayevich Selyukin (born March 26, 1977 in Kiselevsk , Kemerovo Region , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian sledge hockey player . Silver medalist of the 2014 Paralympic Games . Bronze medalist of the 2013 Sledge Hockey World Championship . European Champion 2016. Five - time champion of the country [1] ( 2009 , 2011 , 2012 ), 2015, 2016, the best striker and scorer of the first championship of Russia in 2009, the best striker of the international tournament of four nations in Sochi in 2013. The best defender of the Russian championship in 2016. Honored Master of Sports of Russia . Until 2013, he was captain of the Russian national sledge hockey team . He stands for the Phoenix club located near Moscow and is its captain [2] .

Biography
Vadim Selyukin, while undergoing a special operation in Chechnya while serving in the Russian Armed Forces , was seriously injured in an explosion. Gangrene of both legs began, and they had to be amputated [3] [4] .
After discharge from the hospital, Vadim Selyukin did not lose heart. He graduated with honors from Moscow State Open University with a degree in Management. He went in for sports - first swimming (in this sport, Selyukin grew up to be an instructor for swimmers with impaired health) First coach Boris Nikolaevich Shestakov. [4] [5] .

In early 2009, Selyukin began to engage in sledge hockey ; since that time he has been playing for the Khimki club “Phoenix” [2] [4] .
During the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi (2014), Vadim Selyukin won a silver medal as part of the Russian national sledge hockey team [3] .
