Biography

Born in 1866 [3] in the village of Bikberdino, Orenburg district of the Orenburg province, now the village of Utyagulovo, Zianchurinsky district of Bashkortostan . Came from the Bashkir noble family of the Kuvatovs [4] .

He graduated from the Orenburg gymnasium. He opened over ten national secular schools, among which were Sermenevskaya and Ziyanchurinskaya Russian-Bashkir schools. In 1891-1894 Mukhametgalim Kuvatov was the director of the Sermenev Russian-Bashkir school.

130 Bashkir proverbs were collected and published by Kuvatov in the "News of the Orenburg Department of the Russian Geographical Society" (Issue 6, 1895). Proverbs were presented in alphabetical order with translation into Russian, most of them are given explanations of the meanings and corresponding equivalents from Russian folklore. An alphabet based on the Cyrillic alphabet was used, and when designating specific Bashkir sounds, the styles of individual letters of the Russian alphabet were changed or diacritics were used .

He is the author and compiler of the first Bashkir - Hungarian dictionary, which was published in 1896 and included 97 words. Together with V.V. Katarinsky , the Primer for Bashkirs (published in 1892) and the Bashkir-Russian Dictionary (published in 1899) were compiled.

In 1918, he was chairman of the cantonal council of the Usergan canton of Bashkurdistan .

Repressed as a "Bashkir nationalist . " He was arrested on December 3, 1933 and sentenced to conditional imprisonment for 3 years on charges of article 58 part 2 of the RSFSR Criminal Code . Rehabilitated May 29, 1989 [5] .

Gumer (1893-1946) - an active participant in the Bashkir national movement, the People's Commissar of Health of the BASSR (1919-1928), a public and statesman, surgeon.
Usman (1897-1956) - leader of the Bashkir national movement.
Shakira (1901-1995) - philanthropist, wife of Aidarov Kamal Gimadeevich .

Memory

In honor of Kuvatov Mukhametgalim Abdelganievich named streets in the villages of Isyangulovo and Utyagulovo .
