Maria Casahuana worked as a telephone operator in Barcelona until she won the Fox beauty contest. In 1927, Maria participated in an international beauty contest in Texas , representing Spain. After that, she moved to the USA, learned English, took the pseudonym Maria Alba and began acting in films. During her short Hollywood career, she starred in 25 feature films, starting with the Roadhouse in 1928 and ending with the Golden of the Great God in 1935. Her most prominent role is that of Saturday in the movie Mr. Robinson Crusoe (1932), in which she played with Douglas Fairbanks . In the 1940s, Maria starred in two Hispanic films.
On July 9, 1950, she married Richard Burke; three children were born in this marriage.
