Biography
Stefan Iliev was born on June 25, 1935 in Istanbul , where he lived and studied at a Bulgarian school until 1944, when his father and his family were deported from Turkey as a Bulgarian citizen. He studied at the 2nd male gymnasium and his parents wanted him to become a soldier, but he went to the theater institute. In 1958 he graduated from the Higher Institute of Theater Arts with a degree in acting (now the Cresto Sarafov National Academy of Theater and Film Arts ), a course by Professor N. Masalitinov.
He worked in the drama theater "Racho Stoyanov" in Gabrovo , in the drama theaters of Pleven and Pernik , the Youth Theater, the theater "Sofia" .
He starred in films and television. During the filming of “The Glow Over Drava” (1974), he was stunned and injured in an explosion, doctors had fears that the actor might lose his vision and hearing. [2]
In 1990-2005, he was chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Actors .
