Biography
Born in Lyon in the family of a grocery store owner. During World War II, his father, Charles Beer, was captured in Germany, and his mother took his family to his native village, where Bernard began to go to school. His father was released from prison in 1945, and his family returned to Lyon. Beer studied law in Lyon, and then moved to Paris in 1955, where he entered the training center for journalists. From 1958 to 1974 he worked in the magazine Littéraire Figaro , soon becoming the head of his literary department. In 1974 he left Le Figaro. In 1970, he became the radio host of the humorous program, focusing on political issues. In 1974, France 2 began broadcasting its program called Apostrophes , which continued to go on until 1990 [9] [10] . In the final part of this program I used a modified version of the so-called “ Proust questionnaire ”. The program was widely known in France, and its audience during the period of greatest popularity was about 6.4 million viewers and each of its releases ended with a survey [11] [12] . His program “Apostrophes” was taken off the air in 1989, but Beer returned to his questionnaire in his next program, “Cultural Broth”, where he again reproduced this format [11] . At different times, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn , Vladimir Nabokov , Georges Simenon , Charles Bukowski , Umberto Eco and others participated in the Beer programs and answered the questionnaire [13] . James Lipton, an American journalist-interviewer and television presenter of the cycle under the general title “ Inside the Actors Studio ”, having seen the French program with this questionnaire in the 1980s, appreciated this technique and decided to apply it in the USA. Lipton applied this idea to his show, which began broadcasting on the Bravo cable channel since 1994. In the 2001 issue, Beer and Lipton agreed to answer the question for the first time by speaking together [11] .
He has participated in more than 16 films since 1978. The first picture is “Madam Investigator” (TV series). Bernard Beer is active on social networks and has a personal website. His French is considered exemplary, has released a book of dictations.
