Biography
Yevgeny Mishin was born on May 18, 1921 in the village of Molotychi (now the Fatezhsky District of the Kursk Region ). After finishing six classes of school he worked as an electrician in the Tula region . In 1939, Mishin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. From June 1941 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By September 1943, Senior Sergeant Yevgeny Mishin commanded the detachment of the 1035th Infantry Regiment of the 280th Infantry Division of the 60th Army of the Central Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper . On September 29, 1943, Mishin was among the first to cross the Dnieper near the village of Rotichi of the Chernobyl district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the seizure and retention of a bridgehead on its western shore. Distracting the enemy's fire, he contributed to the successful breakthrough of the German defense by the main forces. In that battle, he was wounded, but continued to fight. Subsequently, he was again injured, lost his sight [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, Senior Sergeant Yevgeny Mishin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In November 1943, Mishin was demobilized for disability. He lived at home, led by the Kurchatov District Society of the Blind of the Kursk Region [1] . Died October 18, 1992 [2] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree, along with a number of medals [1] .
