Biography
Nikolai Mishanov was born on December 1, 1918 in the village of Kurovo (now the Kalinin district of the Tver region ). After finishing seven classes of the school, he first worked at a state farm, later he moved to Kalinin , where he worked as a fitter at a telephone exchange. In parallel with work, he studied at the flying club. In 1939, Mishanov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1940 he graduated from the Voroshilovgrad Military Aviation Pilot School. Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He was wounded three times in battles [1] .
By March 1945, Captain Nikolai Mishanov was deputy squadron commander of the 96th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 301st Bomber Aviation Division of the 3rd Bomber Air Corps of the 16th Air Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . By that time, he had made 169 sorties to aerial reconnaissance and bombardment of accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, personally shot down 2 enemy aircraft in air battles [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946 for captain Nikolay Mishanov , “the execution of the combat missions of the command on the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 2874 [1] .
After the war, Mishanov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. He graduated from the Air Force Academy . In 1965, with the rank of Colonel Mishanov, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Odessa . He died on July 22, 1983, was buried at the Tairovsky cemetery of Odessa [1] , plot 18 [2] .
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
