Jim McAllister (born May 4, 1957 in the Bronx , New York ) is an American football player who played as a defender. In 1977, he was the NASL rookie of the year and played six matches with the US team .

Player Career
Club career
McAllister grew up in Seattle , where he attended John F. Kennedy , Washington High School. When he graduated from high school in 1976, he immediately signed the Seattle Sounders contract from the North American Football League, and he played as a left-back. McAllister played in only two games for the first team in 1976, spending most of the season in the reserve team. In 1977, he became the main Sounders player who participated in the Soker Bowl , where he lost to New York Cosmos with Pele at the head. Makalister’s defensive abilities impressed Pele, who exchanged T-shirts with him at the end of the game. The successful season brought McAllister the NASL rookie title of the year. McAllister spent another season in Seattle before moving to Toronto Blizzard . Prior to moving to Toronto, he spent the 1979/80 season at MISL with the Buffalo Stallions. After one year in Toronto, he moved to the San Jose Earthquakes . During the game for Earthquakes, he played in both NASL and MISL; Earthquakes were represented in both leagues. When the MISL Tacoma Stars franchise was created in 1983, Makalister returned to his native state. He remained with the Stars until the 1985/86 season.
National Team
McAllister played six matches for the US team between 1977 and 1979. His success with the Sounders attracted the attention of the coaching staff of the national team. He played his first match on September 18, 1977 against Guatemala , the game ended in defeat. Then over the next two years he played only occasionally, his last match was held on February 11, 1979 against the Soviet Union , this match was also lost [1] .
Coaching career
McAllister left Tacoma Stars in 1986. Then he became the team’s special trainer. On February 23, 1988, McAllister was appointed head coach following the dismissal of Alan Hinton [2] . Makalister brought the Stars to the playoffs, where they took off in the first round of the San Diego Sokkers . During the off-season of 1988, the team changed owners, they returned Hinton to the post of coach. In 2000, Makalister became the head coach of the Decatur men's high school football team. The following season, the team did not suffer a single defeat in the Washington State Championship. In 2006, Makalister was the head coach of the Hibernian Saints professional club. He was also part of the coaching staff of the Washington Premier Football Club from Tacoma . Together with Gary Hill, he led the team from the Academy of Development to the national final of the USSF, the club took 5th place. In January 2010, he returned to the city, where he took his first steps as a professional player. He became the sports director of the Seattle United youth football club [3] , and the former Saunders player Jason Farrell was also the technical director of the team [4] .
