Appearance and structure
The body is long and thin, no scales. The anal and dorsal fins are not connected, since these fishes do not have a caudal fin - there is simply a solid, pointed end of the body. Many species have a bright and variegated color.
The intestines of the leptocephalus (larvae) of these fish are originally arranged - there are clearly visible swellings on it, occasionally it forms loops.
Development
The stage of leptocephalus in acute eels lasts 10-12 months.
Lifestyle
Many species live in minks, fortified with mucus, in large quantities secreted by their skin. Many species live on coral reefs .
