Subway to Sally is an East German group, formed in 1992 as an English folk-rock band, incorporating elements of Irish and Scottish music. Beginning with the second album “MCMXCV”, released in 1995, the group begins to perform songs in German. Under the influence of the band Skyclad, they perform a mixture of heavy rock and metal, enriched with medieval melodies, imbued with the composition through the sound of bagpipes, barrel organ, lute, mandolin, violin and flute, in combination with German-language romantic poetry in lyrics. With the acquisition of success in their native Germany, they become inventors of medieval metal. The first part of Subway to Sally included Ingo Hampf (guitar), Bodensky (guitar, vocals), Simon (guitar, vocals), Koni (trumpet) and Guido (drums). A little later the violinist Frau Schmitt came to the team, inviting the vocalist and wind instrument specialist Eric Hesht.
