Content

Geographical position

The municipality is located in the eastern part of the Chegemsky district , in the valley of the river Shalushka. The settlement includes two settlements.

It borders the lands of municipalities: Lechinkai in the west, Chegem in the north, Shalushka in the east and Zvezdniy village in the south. And also with the lands of the State Forest Fund (Goslesfond) in the southwest.

The rural settlement is located in the foothill zone of the republic. The relief is a relatively flat inclined plain in the north, followed by the elevations of the Forest Range in the south. The average height of the rural settlement is 590 meters above sea level. Absolute heights reach about 1,000 meters. The southern part of the rural settlement is densely covered with mixed forests.

The area is highly provided with groundwater. The river network is represented by the river Shalushka.

The climate is temperate. Summer is warm, with average July temperatures around + 25 ... + 28 ° С. Winter is cool, with average January temperatures of -5 ... -9 ° C, thaws are frequent. The average rainfall per year is about 550 mm.

The area of ​​the rural settlement is 46 km 2 . Of these, the share of Yanikoy with the neighboring sections accounts for 26 km 2 , and the share of Kamenka - 20 km 2 .

In Kamenka there are two of the largest correctional colonies of Kabardino-Balkaria.

History

The rural settlement within its modern borders was founded in 1992 , with the unification of the villages of Kamenka and Yanika into one rural settlement.
