Title

At present, it has not been possible to find sources that reliably describe the origin of the name of the village. Surprising is the fact that the name of the village is unique - it is the only village in Russia with that name.

Location

The village is located about 100 km south of Moscow , 10 km from the Oka River, on the banks of the Sknizhka or Skniga River . Adjacent to the village of Malakhovo-2 and the village of Galkino .

Nearest cities: Serpukhov , Pushchino , Aleksin , Yasnogorsk , Tula .

In this area there passes a strip of broad-leaved forests, called the “ Tula Forests” - a strip of broad-leaved forests (oak forests with linden, maple, ash, elm, etc.), passing along the border with the forest-steppe zone in the south. In the XVI-XVII centuries, these forests served as the protection of the southern borders of the Russian state from raids by the Tatars and were under special protection. Zaseki represented a strip of impassable forests on the border of the forest-steppe and steppe. In the serif forests, trees were specially cut to prevent riders and horse-drawn carts from moving.

Tula Zaseki was part of the ancient Great Serif Line and is considered the largest defensive structure of Ancient Russia. Now these forests, performing the sanitary-improving function, make up the state forest fund.

Climate

The climate in the village of Gibkino is temperate continental, with a characteristic cold climate in this winter and warm summers . The average annual temperature is +5 ° C. The period with positive temperatures lasts 220-250 days.

History

During the Great Patriotic War in November-December 1941 , fierce battles were fought here. The German offensive was stopped a few kilometers from the village. Near the village there are several monuments and mass graves of the Great Patriotic War.
