Story

Madame Tutley Putley stands on the platform waiting for the train, along with a huge number of her things, which occupy a significant part of it. A small mole whirls around her and, shortly afterwards, a train arrives.

In the next scene, Tutley Putley is shown already seated at the window in a stuffed compartment. Opposite her is a man who gives her indecent hints and in which she once recognized a young tennis player. Next to him are a boy reading a book and a sleeping elderly man. On the upper shelves opposite each other, two men are sitting right in their suitcases. They are focused on the chess in front of them, but as soon as one of them is about to make his move, the train jerks violently and all chess is mixed in a completely new order. So this game continues until chess is thrown in such a way that one of them wins.

When night falls, the train suddenly stops in the middle of the forest. Madame Tutley Putley is very scared when someone suddenly jumps on the roof of the car directly over her compartment, at the same time the train starts to move. A little later, three people, already down from the roof, in dirty shoes walk along the corridor of the car and insert a hose with green gas into one of the pipes under the bottom of the car through the hatch opened by them. This gas begins to flow in the compartment and Madame falls asleep.

When Madame Tutley Putley wakes up, she sees that she is now alone in an empty compartment, all her belongings and companions have disappeared, and the train is still continuing its movement. She is visited by a vision in which those who have entered the train cut organs from the abdominal cavity of a tennis player. Recollecting herself, she runs out of the compartment and runs from car to car until she falls to the floor, reaching the restaurant car. Suddenly, Madame again notices a moth flying in the carriage, she follows her down the aisle until she merges with the bright light in which she herself becomes like a flying creature.

Production

The film became the directorial debut for Lavis and Scherbowski. To create it, many different cliches were borrowed from the works of Hitchcock , as well as from other films and books. In addition, they talked with train staff who told them all kinds of stories. Work on the film lasted five years: from 2002 to 2007 [4] .

For the first time in the history of an animated film, the doll’s eyes were “alive.” This was done through the use of innovative animation techniques by artist James Walker, who was involved in creating visual effects for the film [4] .
