On September 15, it announced a decision not to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October due to health undermined over the past 2 years [9] .
Participation in the elections of the mayor of Kiev
Lesya Orobets announced her intention to take part in the elections of the mayor of Kiev , which should be held on May 25, 2014. According to the Ukrainian publication “Insider” in the Batkivshchyna faction along with her, Yury Lutsenko and Vladimir Bondarenko are also possible candidates for this post [10] . On March 12, Lesya Orobets announced the decision to go to the polls with the Democratic Alliance political party with the support of doctor Olga Bogomolets and public activists. The politician also indicated that he wants to organize a European election campaign in Ukraine, with transparent fundraising and the involvement of volunteers [11] .
March 31, 2014 it became known that Lesya Orobets quit the Batkivshchyna party, thereby fulfilling her campaign promise to go to the post of mayor of Kiev in non-partisan status [12] .
At a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada on April 1, 2014, Lesya Orobets proposed to choose the capital’s head not for 1 year but 5 years in the upcoming city elections, to combine the posts of the mayor and the head of the Kiev city state administration, and also to revive the district councils [13] . On April 7, Lesya Orobets and Vitaliy Klitschko (also a candidate for the head of Kiev) introduced Bill No. 4638, proposing the appointment of the President of Ukraine as Chairman of the Kiev City Administration, who was elected mayor of Kiev. According to the authors, the mayor so elected by the people of Kiev will be able to influence the development of the capital [14] . However, this bill was not supported by the majority in the Verkhovna Rada [15] .
On April 25, the results of a sociological survey of the Razumkov Center among Kiev residents for the period from April 11 to 17 were published. According to him, 34.8% of respondents are ready to vote for Vitali Klitschko, the current chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration, Vladimir Bondarenko, is gaining 7.6%, the leader of the "European Party" Nikolai Katerinchuk - 5.8%, people's deputies Andrei Ilyenko ( VO "Freedom" ) and Lesya Orobets ("Fatherland") are ready to support 3% and 2.9% of Kiev residents, respectively [16] .
May 13, the last day before the end of the consideration of documents, the election commission canceled the registration of Lesya Orobets as a candidate for the post of mayor of Kiev. The reason for this decision was that she ran as a self-nominated candidate and at the same time as a non-partisan leader of the New Life party list. According to representatives of the TECs, when registering Orobets as a candidate on April 29, an error was not detected, because all the papers are checked “manually”. Lesya Orobets stated that she was indignant at such a decision, since she had not violated a single norm of the law and intended to appeal to the court [17] [18] . On May 15, the CEC unanimously reinstated Orobets as a candidate for the election of both the mayor and the deputies of the City Council [19] .
According to the results of the elections held on May 25, Orobets took second place, gaining 8.46% of the vote [20] . Two members of her team, Elena Galushka (after the addition of Lesia Orobets to the mandate of the Kyiv City Council deputy with a request to register the next candidate in the list of the relevant party [21] ) and Oleg Petrovets, became deputies of the Kiev city council.
Views
Adherent to democracy [4] .
Criticizing in May 2008 the Prime Minister of Ukraine Y. Tymoshenko, Orobets stated: “I am openly surprised at the position of Tymoshenko on the issue of national resources. The strategic enterprises of Ukraine, which bring profit to the state, the prime minister seeks to sell as soon as possible, while taking illegal actions to change the management of the State Property Fund ” [2] . Noting at the same time that the government had not signed an agreement on gas supplies to Ukraine for 2009 (see the gas conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2008-2009 ), Orobets expressed the view: “Unfortunately, Tymoshenko’s actions are not intended to protect national interests. It’s just too expensive a PR performance for Ukraine with the premiere in the title role ” [2] .
Criticizing the Tymoshenko government at the height of the economic crisis in February 2009, Lesya Orobets noted: “It was expected that lower revenues would slow down price increases, which in turn would lead to higher sales and, consequently, higher production. Such is the traditional mechanism for overcoming the crisis, at least in the West. Instead, we have an increase in the money supply due to emissions and, consequently, a completely natural increase in prices while the national currency depreciates. In other words, the government does not overcome the crisis, but exacerbates it ” [1] .
At the end of February 2014, during the political crisis in Ukraine, Lesya Orobets spoke out in support of a possible ban on the activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine , since “the Lenin fall going on in our country (demolition of monuments to Lenin continues throughout Ukraine - approx. Publication“ Lenta.ru “) Shows that people are now fighting for independence, which was supposed to happen 23 years ago. They associate Lenin with the imposition of a cult, pressure, poverty and fooling [22] . "
Included in the list of persons non grata in the Republic of Crimea [23] .
In her opinion, the vote to repeal the law on languages became political stupidity, although the bill itself was “stillborn,” since budget funds were not allocated for its implementation [22] .
On her Facebook page, Olesya Orobets described the clashes in Odessa on May 2, 2014 , as a result of which dozens of people died: “This day went down in history. Despite the betrayal of at least part of the police, the Odessans defended Odessa and proved to everyone that Odessa is Ukraine. At the cost of the lives of the patriots, an outstanding victory was obtained. Colorado masses are eliminated. The aggressors who first attacked received more than an adequate response ” [24] .
In June 2014, she came to the Verkhovna Rada with a bag with the inscription “Hutin pui” [25] .
Rewards

Personal life
Married, has two daughters.
On November 12, 2012, masked unknown men broke into the Phoenix Capital company’s Kiev office, where the deputy’s spouse worked. Later, Orobets also reported that they called her on a mobile phone from a hidden number and offered to “solve the problem” through political negotiations [27] .
In 2013, her husband was the chairman of the board of directors of the Kiev office of Phoenix Capital [28] . On June 20, 2013, Lesya stated that her husband was forced to leave Ukraine due to pressure on their family (a criminal case was opened against him) [28] .
