Wing On (永安, Vignon, Wing On, Yun'an) is a large Hong Kong-based trading company that operates a chain of department stores . Listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as Wing On Company International Limited ( SEHK : 0289 ). Formally registered in Bermuda . The holding company of the distribution network is Wing On International Holdings Limited, owned by the Go family (Kwok). The Wing On group is led by the brothers Karl, Leicester, Mark and Bill Guo. The company is headquartered in Wing On Center ( Xiongang District). In addition to the trading business, Wing On has significant interests in the real estate market in Hong Kong, Australia and the USA, as well as in the field of automobile sales in California, and is engaged in financial transactions and information technology. As of 2012, Wing On sales totaled 240 million am. dollars [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] .

History
Wing On was founded in 1907 by the Guo Le and Guo Shun brothers who arrived in Hong Kong from Australia (the brothers opened a fruit shop there and saved a small fortune in 1897). In violation of existing traditions, Wing On opened a multi-storey department store where all goods were sold at solid prices. Another novelty for Hong Kong was that women were sellers [10] . Initially, the initiative was not popular, but over time, Wing On created an entire empire in Shanghai , including shops, an insurance company, textile factories, hotels and warehouses (the flagship department store on Nanking Street , which opened in 1918, was especially famous). In 1919, Hong Kong embraced the anti-Japanese patriotic “May 4th movement.” Representatives of Wing On said they would boycott Japanese goods and sell only Chinese products in their stores [11] .
Later, the influence of Wing On spread to the countries of Southeast Asia . In the 1930s, Wing On already included three trading companies, yarn factories, weaving and dyeing factories, a bank, and life insurance companies against fires and sea disasters. In all companies, a controlling stake and senior management positions were assigned to members of the Guo family. The number of workers and employees was almost 9 thousand people. Following the London office in 1940, Wing On opened branches in New York and San Francisco. [10]
After the Communists came to power in 1949, all Shanghai Wing On assets were nationalized. In 1986, Wing On Bank (永安 銀行), owned by the Guo family, went bankrupt. It was founded in 1931 by the Go brothers as the financial wing of a successful trading and insurance business. After declaring bankrupt, Wing On Bank was managed by Hang Seng Bank , and was later sold to Hong Kong's Dah Sing Bank.

In Hong Kong, there are five Wing On department stores with a total area of 33.4 thousand m² [12] :
- Wing On Center ( Xionwan ).
- Wing On Plus ( Yaumatei ).
- Wing On Plus ( Chimsachoy ).
- Taikoo Shing Store ( Thaykushin ).
- Discovery Bay Store ( Lantau ).
The Wing On Center department store was featured in Jackie Chan 's famous action movie The Police Story . In Hong Kong, several high-rise buildings are called Wing On and belong to the group of the same name - Wing On House and Wing On Life Building in Central and Wing On Center in Xiongang [13] .
